Client Testimonial | Caruso Produce
Client Appreciation
We value our client relationships and strive to build lasting connections. President of Caruso Produce had this to say about VLMK:
June 4, 2019 I walked into a room at VLMK Engineering. This was to be the first of three scheduled interviews for an Engineering firm to design and build what is now our 97,000 sq.ft. tilt-up concrete refrigerated distribution facility.
We left this meeting and canceled the other two interviews.
Trust in your business partners in invaluable. We left that meeting with 100 percent trust that VLMK would act in our best interest.
The design team was remarkable. This is what they do. VLMK Pm’s and Principles are forward thinkers who solve problems before they occur. They make a project better before dirt is moved. They continue to look several steps ahead of the project and continue to make the project better. This is what you can expect from VLMK. They have experienced engineers and project managers who do not cut corners and work well with others.
As important as the engineers and PMs are the unsung heros of VLMK are. The backbone. Their permitting coordinators who work so well with the City and County Bureaucracies. Continually cutting through endless amounts of red tape. Communication with your local government agencies needs to go smooth in order for the project to get off on the right foot. These first steps are crucial. VLMK will advocate on your behalf to ensure the project is pushed through in a timely matter. Always looking several steps ahead. This is an extremely important service and there is no one better than VLMK.
We could not be more happy with our choice in a design build, permitting firm. In fact, we chose VLMK to build us a freezer addition beginning Winter 2024. The project is underway and moving along as we expected.

Caruso Produce Inc.
VLMK Engineering + Design provided architectural design, structural engineering, civil engineering and permitting services for the Caruso Produce Freezer Addition located at 2100 SE 4th Avenue, Canby, OR. This new 7,012 sq. ft. free standing, exterior freezer and fenced mechanical area will provide additional storage capacity for the Caruso produce distribution operations.
In construction, new addition will consist of insulated architecturally ribbed metal panels supported by metal z-girts and purlins on a structural framework provided by the racking system. The unique structural racking system will serve as the building’s structural gravity and lateral system which will then be supported on a conventional shallow concrete foundation with a thermally isolated concrete slab on grade.
Caruso Produce is a distributor of fresh produce to local stores and vendors. The existing building is approximately 90,000 sf. ft. containing a combination of cooler storage, conditioned warehouse staging and loading areas along with an accessory office space.
